How to Apply

To express your interest, please submit a short statement via email to emma@assembly197.com (no more than one page, or a 3–5 minute video or audio recording if you prefer) that tells us:

  • A bit about yourself and your connection to access and inclusion

  • What perspective or experience you would bring to the Committee

  • Why you want to be on the committee, and how working in the arts aligns with your personal interests or values

  • What you hope the Committee could achieve for Assembly 197 and the broader Tasmanian community

Applications in any format are welcome, written, audio, or video. If you would like support to prepare your application, or have questions about accessibility, please reach out to us before the closing date.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking five Tasmanian-based members who together bring a diversity of perspectives, backgrounds, and expertise. We are not looking for a single 'type' — we want a committee that reflects the breadth of our community.

You might have lived experience of:

  • Disability (physical, sensory, cognitive, or psychosocial)

  • Chronic illness or mental health conditions

  • Neurodivergence

  • Cultural or linguistic diversity

And/or professional experience in areas such as:

  • Disability advocacy or support services

  • Inclusive design or Universal Design for Learning

  • Arts, culture, or community sector

  • Health, allied health, or social work

  • Community development or engagement

  • Education, policy, or research related to equity and inclusion

We actively encourage applications from people who have not previously sat on committees or advisory bodies. If you have relevant experience and perspective, we want to hear from you.

Practical Information

Meetings

The Committee will meet four times across 2026, approximately quarterly. Meetings will be conducted in English and will be held in a hybrid format for 1.5 hours; you can join online  or in person in Launceston, depending on your location and preference. We are committed to making the meeting format as accessible as possible and will work with members to accommodate individual access needs. This meeting format will continue to be flexible and adaptable to the panel members’ access needs as the meeting process evolves.

Remuneration

Members will receive $200 per meeting attended. We recognise and value your time and expertise.

Support

Assembly 197's Executive team will coordinate all meeting logistics, provide briefing materials in accessible formats, and support members throughout the term. If you have specific accessibility requirements for participating — whether related to format, communication, or physical access — please let us know in your application and we will do our best to meet them.
